Fasting For Weight Loss Information
Created by Drew | : Weight Loss
Fasting for weight loss is a very common technique used by people that are hoping to lose weight fast. However, in most cases, all fasting will do is make people hungrier. There is a difference between “fasting” and doing a “full body cleanse” which a lot of people seem to get mixed up. Fasting involves cutting back significantly on the amount of food that is ingested, while cleansing involves maintaining a healthy diet along with taking cleansing supplements to help get rid of chemicals that have been stored (e.g. built up inside of the body). If you are considering fasting for quick weight loss, there are some things that you should keep in mind before starting.
Common types of weight loss fasting
1. Juice fasting for weight loss – Juice fasting is exactly what the name implies; you drink a lot of juice that contains a lot of nutrients, but don’t eat any foods. Most people end up fasting for a period of 5 to 10 days, but there have been cases of people on a juice fasting diet for over 30 days (e.g. a full month). Know your body before trying this so that you don’t end up getting inadequate nutrients. You cannot just drink orange juice for 30 days and expect to provide your body with adequate fuel.
2. Water fasting for weight loss – Although I haven’t tried it, going on a water fasting diet sounds pretty dangerous. There have been cases where people have actually flooded their bodies with too much water and it caused them to die. If you drink more water than average, you still will need to eat some food. Don’t expect to be able to drink water and not eat food – you need to eat to stay alive.
3. Fasting diet for weight loss – This involves making a customized diet plan to stick to while fasting. If you are considering a fasting diet for weight loss, it is important to fill your diet with healthy foods. Most people still make sure that their bodies are getting adequate nutrients during the fasting process. Fruits and vegetables are the primary foods that are consumed by a person that is resorting to a fasting diet for weight loss.
Exercise caution and be smart when fasting for weight loss
Although fasting sounds like an extreme weight loss solution, it is important to realize that people fast all the time that don’t need to lose any weight. If you are going to try fasting, make sure that you are not starving yourself and know what your body needs. Some people misuse “fasting” and it ends up turning into a cycle where the individual starves him/herself and then eats a ton of food, then starves some more, eats a lot more, etc. (and the cycle repeats; this is like yo-yo dieting). Make sure that you know what you are doing before you ever consider fasting – whether it be for weight loss or just to detoxify your body.
