Your article has really brought home a connection between brain wave states and well being. In particular you mention of Alpha block when under stress. Bruce Lipton talks about the affect of stress on the body diverting resources from our internal organs to our extremities in preparation for fight or flight, the shutting down of the immune system and also the frontal cortex giving your instinctual part of the brain more control. The physical connection with stress and poor health is clear. The connection between brain wave states and how fast healing occurs is very interesting and I will be looking into that a lot more. You have also given me a great excuse to take more power naps.

I was interested to read about the connection with eye movements placing your brain in to Alpha states. You mentioned memory recall when looking up. No doubt you are familiar with the NLP eye pattern chart where looking up relates to visual recall. Looking up to the right generally means you a visually recalling something while looking up to the left is visual construction (an act of creativity or perhaps indication that someone is lying when they are meant to be recalling something real). Then there is auditory (side to side) and kinesthetic (down) eyes patterns. I wonder if anyone has looked further into these eye patterns and their corresponding brain waves.

Regarding ADD:

Today's world is left-brain dominated -- look at the education system, it only produces rule-followers and instruction-obeyers. So, any time you show any other tendency, you are looked upon as weird.

So, no matter what people say or think, stay with your originality. After all, each one of us is a unique creation of nature. "ADD" is merely a label; people just reflect to it as if they really understand what it is.

Hi,

I really enjoyed reading this article. Specially "Brain waves: Children vs. Adults" in "Boost your overall energy, youth, and happiness" section.

I am wondering if you have a reference for this part as you mentioned in your article that "scientists have thoroughly researched the brain waves of children."

Thanks a lot,
Naseem

Hello,

I got attention deficit disorder and my brain waves are naturally in an alpha and theta state. This means while i'm concentrating i'm goin to dream more and it's goin into theta state. Alot of people don't have understanding for people with add(because everything doesn't fit into normal is "different" and thus negative), but we have also our benefits. We may not be as concentrated or organised, but we have creative solving talents and we are be able to question everything('cause we're natural dreamers, we only believe what we "really see"). This means the people with add are infact natural meditaters and even with people misjudging us and the misconception around add, we are great happy people that contribute to a better life!

peace
(sorry for the english, I'm dutch)
einstein also had add.

Really well written and without a lot of techno-babble. I'd never considered the link between brain wave states and something abstract like the immune system, even though I've modified directly measurables like blood pressure, temperature and heart rate. One experiment with that cost me a butt chewing from a nurse and an extra day in the hospital after surgery. More people need to read your article so I'm passing the URL along to three best candidates.
