I have been using Mind Stereo and brain training for 2 years now. I have found a pattern. Whenever I increase my learning or perception I wake with panic in the morning and tend toward it for about 4 or 5 days then it subsides. The subconscious holds us where we are for reasons. And it doesn't like it when we tinker, lest thoughts or harmful memories surface. So it's just doing its job of protection and putting up a bit of a fight. But I bear it and push on through and like I said, 4 or 5 day and then the panic stops and I move into the new place mentally that I was working toward. Usually peace or gratitude or needing to write and bring up material quickly. Other times I'm using it for increased memory if I need to speak or teach, etc. It always works and I always get panic. I've recently been working with Gamma and it was almost instant happiness and serenity. I also got massive things that felt like "downloads" for lack of a better word where I would just understand entire concepts. I am seeing things like shadows and streaks and runners and my sense of what's about to happen next is spot on. Very cool but will use it sparingly. I don't have time to be continually freaked out!

Hello Aldo

You did not mention which product you used for Gamma.

Was it Neuroprogrammer 2 (I am waiting for version 3 which I am promised is due soon) - in the meantime I use Dr Jeffrey Thompson - Gamma Meditation 2.0 which I really like - too early to tell re: benefits/results though.

Not impressed with Holosync - mainly due to pushy/hard sell techniques.

If you have had great Gamma benefits/experiences - let us all know which ones (products/brands) have worked for you because there is also a lot of crap out there.

Gamma is great. I've been a sufferer of depression/anxiety for most of my life and using gamma entrainment has helped greatly. It's given me a new perspective on my reality, which is greatly needed for depression sufferers.

i got to admit Gamma attraining was a trip, I did feel quite I.Q. enhanced, and a lil bit angst, so I probably continue attraining with this in moderation(don't want to overdose, lol

Merzenich: FastForWord & Postit

Attention is necessary for memorization. We use Beta for attention because the signal has to be clear to be attended to and memorized.

If it was so easy, believe me, there would be no sleep clinics and Valium would not be the #1 seller. Why do we not sleep?

And consider the tv being sold now: 120 Hz and 240 Hz, can we know this is not harmful?

Its awful when you're in that hole with depression, but I believe you can climb out of it, its a long journey but boy is it worth it, as the suffering and the experience in the long term becomes an asset. Would you agree?

Lisa--
Reading through some of the other research about brainwaves, it sounds like one of the lesser explored (or at least talked about) aspects of this is that you can have multiple experiences at similar frequencies--meaning that while you can assume a particular experience or state of mind correlates to a particular frequency, you should not assume that that particular frequency only correlates with that particular state of mind.

There's an old adage about how anticipation and anxiety are the same thing, just one is positive and one is negative? From what I gather from research, this statement is basically true.

I don't know why you'd wake up to pulsing sounds or panic attacks, other than to remind you that the brain is an exquisitely complex organ, and simplifying its innerworkings to "40 Hz = focus" is buyer beware. That's not to say that it's not true--it is to say that we don't know all the ramifications, nor can we predict them, so sometimes panic attacks happen.

interesting what sassa said about using gamma brainwaves and waking to pulsing sounds, etc. i used a progression from alpha, delta and finally theta - and for first 6 months I was fine, then all of a sudden was waking up panicked with shrill sounds in my ears ( not from headphones) and deathly afraid to go back to sleep. do not have a history of panic attacks or anxiety. any advice?
